Yesterday was the last day to add/drop courses or to withdraw from your program at Mohawk College. It is a stressful moment when you need to decide if I will be “Stepping Up” or “Stepping Down”. It is brave to make the decision to leave your program because it is not the right fit; it is also brave to stick it out. The most important thing is that it is your well thought out decision. You are now 2 weeks into classes and a real decision and plan needs to made to keep you going. How are you going to make it through the times that you are overwhelmed or feeling like things are coming at you too fast to keep up? How will you be self directed in developing solutions and implementing them? It is important to know when your most productive times in the day are.
For the next few days…think about the times where you seem to be able to get everything done with ease, where it felt great to just work through everything that needed to be done. The times that you minimally had to force yourself to do important tasks like assignments, chapter reading or studying for tests. Also, think about the time of day that you are least effective. Once you have observed yourself for about a week and made note of your most effective times in the day, try to plan to study or get assignments done during those times and “play” when you are lower energy or less effective!
